AR-RPK Upper Receiver for the Automatic Rifleman

This looks like a great tool for the dedicated “automatic rifleman” in your team.  I teach how to be effective with this type of weapon in the Support Weapons Class this September.  Email me to sign up!

    Looks nice.

But the POI will shift from having the bipod on the barrel.

    And it shifts ALOT.

It has a full BULL barrel all the way to the end for that very reason. As its’ reason to exist is suppressive fire a little shift won’t be a huge factor. I don’t see this being fire off-hand for pin point accuracy too terribly much so it should be just fine. They’ve been using them for several years at One Shepherd with no problems.

The maker has said that he can mount a bipod on the handguard if so desired by the purchaser.

Mounting the bipod to the handgaurd would be a requirement. Mounting to the barrel works fine IF you are using iron sights that also are attached to the end of the barrel.

Every weapon I have ever fired that has bipods on the barrel shifts when using optics mounted to the receiver.

The shift is so dramatic that you can’t even hit a target at 150 meters when firing from the prone supported relative to the bipod supported.

It’s that bad. My crew learned this lesson on optic mounted RPK clones using the standard RPK bipod.

I’m sure that “Every weapon you’ve have ever fired” has done that. That doesn’t equate to every weapon everywhere does that. I have a traditionally scoped Sharps with a #1 heavy 34″ barrel. It is fired both offhand and with the barrel resting on shooting sticks. There is no shift in POI.

I should be getting time on this weapon in just over a month. I’ll let you know
