Good basic presentation–“Thanks, Dave!” He’s right. Get a PVS14 now; use the plastic or pull out the Benjamins, pony up before they’re banned. Let’s be honest–what the hell good are greenish-blue pieces of paper when SHTF? Plenty of reliable sellers out there. Go with a reputable seller who will also give you a printed “Data Sheet,” with all the specs for your unit.

Like Dave counsels, I sold a few sticks and pistols and then took the cash and bought a PVS14.

Take NV in steps: #1 get the PVS14, then #2 get a helmet, then #3 get the J-arm mounting brackets, etc. and follow up with a #4 Dbal infrared laser to allow you aiming at night. (PS I use a Steiner OTAL-C and it works for me and didn’t bust my wallet. Some like its pressure pad switch, some don’t YMMV.)

What Dave said in the vid is 100% true. You sight-in your stick at night with your Dbal or OTAL-C and then, by just using your NV–all you do is literally eyeball “point ‘n shoot.” Put your infrared laser on a target and fire–from the hip, shoulder, prone–whatever! It’s great for us “seasoned citizens” whose headlights aren’t that of a 20 y/o. Too easy…

My M4’s got a Sure-Fire IR light on it (good for 50-75 yds to ID targets) and I also carry a handheld IR flashlight. it’s a TNVC Torch Pro MK3 Infrared Illuminator which lights up focusable IR beam out to 800 yards–only visible with NV.

Time’s wasting. Get a crackin’–and get a PVS14–buy once, cry once. You’ll never regret it. Find a good source like: TNVC, Night Googles Inc, or JRH Enterprises–all fine people. Figure out if you prefer the trad “green” or newer white phosphor versions.

For me, in a deep woods area, I also carry a thermal vision handheld monocular device which supplements the NV, like seeing human hot-spots “behind” bushes, shrubs, ground cover–which the NV can’t do.

Tip: I use ONLY Energizer batteries in my NV rig (I go with the Lithium ones)–they never leak (as do some other major brands. Nothing worse than corroded contacts in your NV caused by crappy, leaky batteries.

PPS–You don’t thing the drug-gangs, MS13, and other marauders don’t have MV? Think again…some of those POS have better kit than the LEOs in your area.

Get prepared for the “other half” of the upcoming battle–at night.

Like Dave said” Embrace the night!”

Mike let us use/train with his PVS14 NVG at the “Team Leader Class” class I attended. After experiencing the advantage, I immediately bought one when I got home. Sell what ever you have to but get yours. Yes, Cornelius, you better believe the bad guys already have them. Without them you lose about 50% of your effective fighting ability. BTW good pointer on the Energizer batteries Cornelius.

And “fight light” with a Crye night cap instead of the bump or ballistic helmets if you can. Whole thing then packs away into a single IFAK sized pouch.
