Rationing is Coming. What is it Going to Look Like? by Scipio

I don’t know what rationing is going to look like, but I know what it looked like in WW II.  When the war ended, my parents had left over “stamps” in their Ration Books.  When they passed away a few years ago, we children split the remaining Ration Books between ourselves.  There were not enough for all of us to get the same kinds of Ration Books, and being the baby in the family I got the shaft as usual. (Nah just kidding). However, here are a few examples of my Ration Books and stamps:

The “Consumer Instruction Sheet” explains when the books would be issued and what the stamps are for.  Certain items designated as scarce, required the use of more stamps with higher points.  One thing that stands out to me is that rations applied only to processed foods.  From what I remember my parents saying, you could buy all the fresh fruits and vegetables you wanted without a Ration Card, that is if you had money. Keep in mind the WW II generation had just survived the great Depression a decade before so the idea of scarcity was not new to them in their upbringing and easy for them to adapt to.  When, not if, rationing is implemented in the US in the near future, today’s generation of instant endless gratification consumers will be hard pressed to accept this and conflict will arise.

One thing for sure, the government will have to create a gigantic inefficient abuse prone administrative department to implement and disperse a 21st Century version of “Ration Cards”.  I am sure that parasitic government grifters are already lobbying Congress for their special interests in the development, guidelines, and most importantly, who administrators the coming regulations. “Marginalized” individuals “fair share” will be greater than the rest of society in some way, shape, or form.

In WW II if you sold your car, you had five days to turn in the unused “Basic Milage Ration” card.  Also, you could only buy gas on days the letter code on your card stated.  My Dad had a 1934 Ford coupe, and his card had the letter “B” circled. I don’t remember what day of the week he said that was.  One misunderstanding I had abought the gas ration card’s purpose was to save gas, and it was partly true.  But the main reason was to minimize the wearing out of tires.  The Japanese controlled the rubber plantations in Southeast Asia, and that is also one reason the French remained in Indochina after WW II until the mid-50’s. The Japanese made getting rubber for tires and other uses extremely difficult.  Synthetic rubber processing had not begun at that time.

So, what does our future hold?  What will be rationed, how it will be rationed, and what boondoggle will be created to administer it is yet to be known.  One thing for sure, it will go by some catchy acronym that will make everyone happy to get their “fair share” until they see how limited their “fair share” is.  My suggestion is they use (F.A.R.T) For All Responsible Transactions”.

    This is actually scary.

I think the part that is even worse than the idea of rationing, is that it will almost certainly be electronic, and tied to a version of a “social credit score”
I don’t see most of us on this site getting much of anything in the way of rations.

Absolutely agree! All the more reason to– 1. Create parallel systems 2. Raise your own foods and other things that create personal security and value.

So whats going to be rationed ? Anyone have any ideas ? Right now milk, beef, chicken and eggs are skyrocketing up in price. Cream based products are getting scarce like around the fall into late January.

Any and all animal protein, I’d imagine. Unlike WWII, and other national trials where there was genuine externally-caused shortage, the upcoming privations will be intentionally induced, and thus the rationed items will be everything globohomo considers naughty. Unlimited sugar, corn, soy, and maybe whatever new wonder food they make out of seaweed and narwhal butt-hairs in some lab, but scarce animal products and non-GMO vegetables. People even talking about the shortages or lack of selection will be labeled as privileged fascists. Might see garden/”hoarder” confiscations as well. They will make bullshit arguments against personal gardens, orchards, and livestock.

I would also expect another WW throwback in the form of “Meatless Mondays” which will then segue into the time-honored revolutionary holiday of Latin America known as “Viernes Sin Comer.”

As has been expounded on at great length by the authors here, the communist’s favorite weapon is food.

The government really thinks their going to chose the winners and losers in a land this well armed? Fat chance. Think some are going to starve over some hateful comment they made a year ago? Not with guns lying around.
Think anyone is going to allow their family to go hungry, while a bunch of fat-ass liberals walk out of the store with a cart full of steak and lobster? Not likely.
Thinking they can truck food through starving rural country side to feed the liberal city folk? Whimsical thinking at best. Ain’t going to happen for real.
The rich are already being targeted in LA with follow home robberies. But they ain’t seen nothing yet.
People will put up with a lot. But starvation when you have firearms and ammo is not one of them.
A large part of the people in this country would kill you for a tuna sandwich, and a cheap fix right now. One can only imagine in a clown-world free for all.
And I’m thinking the coming chaos is the desired result. To waste what we’ve stored for the real take-over.
No one can fight us straight up. They have to make us destroy ourselves.

Wartime Farm series on Utube….8 Parts and take notes on making wood chip bread….ummm uhhhmmmm. This series is set in Britain from 1939-48. Animal husbandry was outlawed except for a few dairy beef and you could have a “pig club” with your neighbors if you were lucky. Over 2500 farms were taken over by the Govt for lack of production and that power was wielded by not 1 but 2 Govt agencies that did spot checks. One farmer was fed lead for lack of cooperation and made an example of during this time; Im sure there were many more.
After the war folks were so brainwashed that when elections rolled around they voted to keep the Govt controls over them by a 60% vote(mass formation psychosis).
Americans and most of the developed world will not survive this rationing. I dont think there is any longer a line to cross for supposed freedom loving people…..they have been mostly neutered to tyranny from what I have seen over the last 2 years.
Most around here are at least partially prepared but 99.9% of the population that were busy dyeing their hair blue and posting feelings will fold into que with the piper.

I took your suggestion about watching the Wartime Farm Youtube series and just 12 min. into it the first installment I was amazed at how the anti-meat people were active with their nutritional nonsense back then. The dictatorial powers of the government were very heavy handed. Good recommendation to get our imaginations working about what we might expect here.

One thing about it, it won’t be “Fair” in anyway, shape or form.

  6. BLACK April 25, 2022 at 15:04

the left/rinos and kommies, think they get to say how much their votes on how they get to be fed, is going to count . the farmers i kno are going to do our best, to bypass them all and go right to the families/ end users.

Rationing won’t pop here in the Yoo Ess. The peeps won’t tolerate it. And imagine the cartels that will sprout like proverbial ‘shrooms after a rain. “We can get ya anything ya want.” You can count on that.

The French remained in Indo after 1945 for another good reason: moving raw opium from from Burma to Marseilles. Carlos Hathcock killed one operative (“the French Fag”). Unauthorized dumbass should have got out….

Yep–“Thanks!” Scipio and all comments. Great insights.

Next time you’re out shopping for whatever, eyeball the “consumers” around you. And “consumers” they are. Eating anything with legs except a wooden table. MERCY! I’d say 50-60% here in the vast Midwest where I am located are morbidly obese. I call them “Land Whales.’ Most have this prideful and arrogant puffy facial look of: “I AM THE BIG ME! MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE!”

Man–are these fat turds in for the surprise of their lives.

They will receive an unpleasant low-calorie surprise from me if they come violently seeking grub at my homestead, where we’ve been wisely preparing for times such as these. But, then again, that means they’d have to walk 100 yards to get to my front door, and, absent a battery-powered motor scooter, public mini-bus, or cab, most wont’ make it here due to “self-induced overload.” Can I still say: “FAT” or “obese?”

…was at a local big-box store that was selling those small resin deck chairs which now have a prominent label: WARNING: WEIGHT LIMIT 350 POUNDS.” Also spoke to my neighbor down the road who is a Fireman/EMS in a larger city near me. They had to re-equip and buy all brand-new gurneys, since the old ones were collapsing under the weight of 400+ pound rescues and transports.

Thank you for the above information. My Grandad ran a ‘hole in the wall’ grocery store during the Great Depression. Dad was one of his grocery delivery persons, delivering them to their homes via bicycle.

I guess this reinforces the point to learn what grows in YOUR AREA, and learn how to recognize, gather and process those materials for food. THIS WILL BECOME VITAL INFORMATION. Most of us (hopefully) grow edibles – medicinals in our yards and is barter material – I don’t see how authorities would be able to keep record of who has what.growing where. Especially when grown stealthy.

Good reminder. I’m guessing that in the modern era it will look very much like what is being proposed and done in Ireland today which I think is a country that is a future-cast for 2030. Listening to a post by Computing Forever, an Irishman, talking about his home country and the current situation in Ireland is down right disturbing. There are things like car free Sunday’s being proposed, etc, and that the Government will avoid, if possible, forcing people or businesses to give up property or open their homes to Ukrainian refugees.
