Using a UAV to be a mobile repeater is a genius idea.
One specific way to use them in threat mitigation is to have one equipped with thermal/infrared imaging capability. At an old job, one of the properties I covered dispatching for had a true drone: the on site management programmed it with a pre-flight pattern, though FAA regs required a pilot be behind the stick in case.
Occasionally, the pilot would turn on thermal imaging and you could see which cars in the lot had been there for a while, etc. I think we were eventually going to use it for following shoplifters but I don’t remember if that ever happened before I left the job. There was talk of even certifying those of us that covered that property at the dispatch center of becoming certified pilots but I never got the chance before I left.
Also, they are quite loud if you’ve never been near a decent sized one. I remember I was in a procession one time and heard something rather loud above me.
Somebody in the procession was using it to record footage.
It’s a growth industry, for sure, and people are taking notice. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/biden-is-getting-serious-about-drone-threat-to-homeland
Any one know where you can get a drone with a screen that does not use your phone or cell towers for a reasonable price ?
For recon!
