I don’t understand a word of it and there isn’t any video footage of it actually shooting down a drone.
As I understand the process, the drone gun is simply a radio transmitter and a yagi antenna directed at the drone and transmitting on the drone control frequency. Most low end drones will simply land in place when the signal is lost, and some other types will return to the launch location and land there. There are a few videos in the usual place where people demonstrate this “shoot down” technique with an assortment of commercial and home made drone guns. The specifics of the process I can only guess at. It is not clear to me if there is a single common drone control frequency for mall commercial drones or if they have an assigned range and the attacker must identify the specific frequency with a frequency analyser first. I also presume that high end and milspec drones have encrypted control freqs or some other means of hardening against this sort of attack. I think the Iranians have brought down some of our advanced military drones by hyjacking the digital signal.
Any sparky know how to make one?
I do, and I cover the mechanics of it in class.
Nice. The RTO class?
Advanced RTO and Signals Intelligence give the necessary tools for exploitation.
