Powerful stuff – whatever truths or untruths the old gent is shopping. So many dynamics, so many permutations of what might or might not be true.
Personally, viewing what Napoleon and Hitler did, I can sympathize with the Russians. Lord knows, Russia’s neighbors have been the financial cash cows for big corruption, providing “10% for the Bug Guy” for how long?
Kinda like Americans, might have looked for agreement that nuclear-tipped missiles were unacceptable on Cuban island so close to our mainland back in the 60s.
Tell me I’m wrong and why.

Don’t the nuclear powers China and India share borders with Russia? Might Russia ALREADY have nuclear missles close to its borders from them? After the Soviet Union broke up, Ukraine gave up its nuclear missles in exchange for signed promises from USA, Britain and Russia to maintain Ukranian sovereignty in the Budapest Memorandum. Furthermore, there was no indication that Ukraine was ever going to get nuclear missles that would threaten Russia.

India doesn’t share a border with Russia. Neither India nor China is actively threatening Russia, either.

The agreement you’re referencing also guaranteed no eastward expansion of NATO, and we all know how that worked out.

No matter who wins, the Ukrainians lose.

Interesting video. Certainly this could be a psy-op video, but it shows the Russians are at least trying to be the good guys. It is certainly a smart play on their part in any case, and persuasive one. I like that he did appear at least as leader who was not hung up on pomp and circumstance, and he spoke straight forwardly without a lot of bs. He also appeared to believe what he was saying and cared about his message. A lot better than I can say for numerous commanders calls that I have sat through over the years.

This cat led the Chechen detachment in Mariupol. Also a sitting member of Russian Parliament. Imagine a US Congresscritter leading a ‘special military operation’ in Tex-Mex.

The last one who did was at the Alamo.

In fact, the last public official of any kind from DC to go into direct combat was Teddy Roosevelt.
