What a clusterfuck. Thank God we didn’t lose them! I can’t imagine the terror of those hours, and the exceptional abilities of the crew to disregard it in favor of duty.

What has happened to the US Navy? Way too many collisions, in the last few years. My Grandfather is rolling in his grave, in Arlington. smh

This is a scathing report on poor training and poor leadership. It sounded like a crew just going through the motions. What is most disturbing is this comes on the heels of two Arleigh Burke Aegis destroyers, USS McCain and USS Fitzgerald, colliding with slow moving transport ships in the Pacific on August 2017 and June 2017 in almost back to back incidents. I said, SLOW moving transports. The Aegis class has supposedly the most sophisticated radar in the world with “over the horizon” capabilities. I went to an Aegis demo at the Norfolk Naval station once and it is awesome. In addition to the ship’s radar capabilities, at all times human watchmen man all four points of the boat; bow, stern, port and starboard sides. They are specially trained and certified for this task. I asked a Navel Chief after the second collision how this could happen twice! He said he does not know how it was possible to happen if the crew were doing their job. I don’t remember which but one of the collisions knocked out the entire communication system and naval headquarters were notified via an unsecured cell phone from the ship. With the lowering of physical and mental ability for entry into the military, admirals and generals who have never won a battle, and our leader’s obsession for social engineering in the military, I cringe to think of what will happen when (not if) we face the Russians and Chinese.
