Justice Dept. investigating Trump’s actions in Jan. 6 criminal probe
The Justice Department is investigating President Donald Trump’s actions as part of its criminal probe of efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, according to four people familiar with the matter.
Prosecutors who are questioning witnesses before a grand jury — including two top aides to Vice President Mike Pence — have asked in recent days about conversations with Trump, his lawyers, and others in his inner circle who sought to substitute Trump allies for certified electors from some states Joe Biden won, according to two people familiar with the matter. Both spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.
The prosecutors have asked hours of detailed questions about meetings Trump led in December 2020 and January 2021; his pressure campaign on Pence to overturn the election; and what instructions Trump gave his lawyers and advisers about fake electors and sending electors back to the states, the people said. Some of the questions focused directly on the extent of Trump’s involvement in the fake-elector effort led by his outside lawyers, including John Eastman and Rudy Giuliani, these people said.
In addition, Justice Department investigators in April received phone records of key officials and aides in the Trump administration, including his former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, according to two people familiar with the matter. That effort is another indicator of how expansive the Jan. 6 probe had become, well before the high-profile, televised House hearings in June and July on the subject.

If Trump wakes up to CNN filming Mar Lago as HRT and the black helicopters arrive to take him away, what next? Causes beii? Do MAGA and the Deplorables activate? Or will ‘decorum and considered restraint’ rule the day as the system does its work?
I truly hope this is more headlines and theater to get the adrenaline pumping once again, but the left and hubris go together like stink and you know what, so it wouldn’t be surprising fi what started out as a headline became a really good idea to someone DOJ and they actually acted on it.
And the same question once again: is there NO ONE in the upper echelons of the military who isn’t co-opted?

PS: Just found some great stuff on the Forum, e.g. conflict theory and some other gems that broadly apply to the ‘general situation.’ It’s sometimes hard to think up anything new to comment or contribute, but one theme is that everyone has been waiting for ‘it’ to pop off, and all you hear is fizzle….. But if there is one thing I would like to see, it’s a full replacement of those who run the republican party. Can’t bring myself to use the word ‘leadership’ nor capitalize the R. There are a few who may get some things done, and it’s also a choice of do something, even if it’s very late in the 4th quarter.
Past that, it’s, “Praise God and pass the ammunition. “
What did he expect? He declared war on the enemy, crossed the Rubicon, then slinked off and left the army to swing and conceded the field, all the riches of the world, and his army to the enemy to do as they will with them. Maybe he should have studied history better or at least learned the lessons if he did (hard to believe he didn’t learn anything in military school).
There’s a theory that the Nazis are so desperate about the mid terms that they’ve decide to try a swing for the bleachers move and Perp Walk Donald J Trump in front of every news camera they can. They don’t care if they need to eventually drop the charges. They are after that visual and the humiliation.
Timing seems right.
