US Military To Prep For War If Pelosi Goes To Taiwan: REPORT

The U.S. military is readying for possible conflict in the Pacific ahead of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s possible trip to Taiwan in August, according to The Associated Press.

The Pentagon will escalate troop movements and security measures in the Pacific if Pelosi follows through with her planned Taiwan visit. China likely would not attack Pelosi’s plane directly, officials familiar with the matter told the AP, but senior officials worry that her presence could inflame existing tensions between the U.S. and China over Taiwan.

“If there’s a decision made that Speaker Pelosi or anyone else is going to travel and they asked for military support, we will do what is necessary to ensure a safe conduct of their visit,” Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley told the AP. “And I’ll just leave it at that.”

Officials declined to provide specifics but said measures could include fighter jets, ships and surveillance equipment to create redundant shields around Pelosi. China threatened to impose a no-fly zone over Taiwan if Pelosi visits and has dispatched warplanes into Taiwan’s claimed air defense identification zone, CNN reported, as a possible countermeasure.

Well at least the Chicoms can count on a phone call from Miley before we respond.

I’ve never understood the “One China” policy honestly. It’s clearly, in reality, NOT one China and hasn’t been since 1947.I can say I’m the Sultan of Brunei, that doesn’t make it so.

The Chinese should have been Told in no uncertain terms to STFU about it 60-70 years ago. At that time, we could have done it—and made it stick.Letting them mumble about it under their breath all this time has got us where we are now.

The One China policy stemmed from the Cold War and the idea of an alliance with the PRC against the Soviets, who were deemed to be the greater threat.

MacArthur wanted to attack the PRC with strategic weapons in 1950 during the Korean War, This came after the Chinese intervened in the war and changed it’s course. This could have been simply heavy bomber attacks on industrial targets, Naval blockade of the coast, and destruction of the Manchurian airfields which allowed them to have a sanctuary for their airpower over Korea. He also proposed supporting a Republic of China attack on the mainland from Taiwan. The traitors in government who opposed this and ensured that it could not happen had their way. It has been “common knowledge” since, that Korea needed to be a limited war, a simple “Police Action”, and that a nuclear exchange with the Soviets was the likely result if we expanded the war into China. MacArthur reasoned then and and later that in war, “there was no substitute for victory”. What he meant was that half measures and an inconclusive war could not deliver a satisfactory outcome for our strategic interests. The wisdom of this has been evidenced by the mortal threat both North Korea and especially the PRC pose to America today In 1950, the Soviets only had about 4 Hiroshima type bombs and the only delivery system available was the TU-4 Bull bomber, a B-29 copy which only had enough range for a one way trip to North America from Russia. We had a much larger nuclear arsenal than the Russians at the time and the means to deliver it to Russian and Chinese targets safely with the B-36.
It is probable that if MacArthur’s advise had been followed, at a minimum, the Manchurian airfields would have been destroyed and the Chinese/NK troops would have been deprived of aircover and our own B-29’s would have been able to operate over Korea with impunity. The Soviets would almost certainly have avoided a nuclear exchange (they would have lost), or even a limited conventional fight out of fear of losing far east territory such as the Japanese Kuril Islands. Had WW3 developed out of these events, we at least know now that we were never in a better position strength wise against a combined Sino/Soviet alliance then we were at that time. We may well end up soon paying the bill for failing to act decisively in 1950.

Concur all. Alive and aware of the threat at the time, and ever more historically and politically knowledgeable since. Have said often for many years, when talking with the less well informed, that we had the whole world in the palm of our hand after WWII and we dropped the ball. You are correct that cowards and traitors are to blame for this.

Patton was right, and so was MacArthur.

Did a little digging, The declassified info on the US arsenal reveals that we had nearly 300 atomic weapons in 1950, 299 to be precise. * We could have delivered same without much strain with the existing B-29 and B-36 fleet to as much of China and Russia as would be required. This was a staggering advantage at the time and should have been leveraged by diplomatic means to dictate whatever reasonable outcomes we desired on the world stage. Certainly China could have been convinced to withdraw from Korea or risk annihilation. There is no way Stalin would have put himself at risk for Korea or China given his miniscule arsenal, inadequate bomber fleet, and steep odds against his being able to land one on an American city. What Truman, the Joint Chiefs, and the State Department decided to do instead was criminal. It has been a long, bitter, 70 years of American Wars fought without any intention of achieving victory. It is doubtful there has ever in history been such an advantage in military power available and not used when needed. Just sickening.

“What Truman, the Joint Chiefs, and the State Department decided to do instead was criminal.”

Both treasonous and intentional, being sympathetic to communism, while inflating the power and INCOME of the MIC. Also, cowardly. Afraid of the power of the bomb, with much justification, and lacking the loyalty to country, the correct diplomatic assessment and, no doubt, they knew that a war weary people, world wide, and a leftist press corps would not tolerate saber rattling or what would a mere ten years later be called “brinksmanship.”… They thought that America’s prodigious and expanded industrial and technological might would rule the world forever.

“Patton and MacArthur were right” which must have irked Ike terribly.

If Pelosi does go to Taiwan, I hope she takes at least 9 Democratic representatives with her! Perhaps, IF the plane is shot down, the balance of power will switch to the Republicans………..
