Should add “half-ass search” a prisoner to the list of how to get killed too!

This video is interesting on another level, meaning how it demonstrates the mentality of the day, e.g., body language, voice inflections, and how material is presented. It’s something deeper than the production, script and all that. Other training films from WWII, Korea and Vietnam show the changes, but it’s after Vietnam things start to shift; but even some from the 80’s have a different ‘vibe.’ Cultural reflection, I suppose.

My daughters actually find a certain appeal to guys of that era – and not especially related to whether a guy is particularly muscular, handsome or anything else, but when we discuss it’s more a ‘basic masculinity and gentlemanliness’ they find in whatever guys of prior eras give off. It’s also something beyond the ‘soy boy thing,’ they tell me it’s something about having more dimensions, and a certain combination of heart-mind-character they just don’t feel with most of the Brad Pitt and after era.

It’s some kind of ‘wholistic read’ on them.

Women. Go figure. But as a father, I see it as a very good thing.
