Hill People Gear Runners Kit Bag Hunting Set Up

The Hill People Gear Runners Kit Bag should warrant no introduction. It is an already well-proven piece of equipment that allows the carry of a full-size pistol when you don’t want it on your hip. Originally meant for use with rucks or for people wanting to carry while running, it shines just as well when hunting.

I have had my Runners Kit Bag for going on 6 years and it mostly saw use when I went on runs. But once I started hunting it got moved to support that role. I’ve used it when bow and rifle hunting. And have used it in stands and when walking around on the ground. It’s still an evolving system and this is how I have it set up currently.

I have PALS webbing on the front if I decide to add extra pouches on the front, but for now, I like keeping the front clean so it doesn’t get too bulky.

A simple 7x range finder that can also be used passively as a monocular is kept on my right hand side while wearing it.

On the left, I keep a set of 10x binoculars for various observations so I don’t need to needlessly point my rifle at things I want to look at.

And of course, on the bottom with the use of a Blue Force Gear Tourniquet hammock is a Gen 7 NAR CAT.

Inside the outermost compartment, I keep a variety of equipment. Starting on the left side of the photo I keep a headlamp, often times I am walking out to stands or blinds in the early morning before the sun is up, this allows me to be able to see where I am walking without having to hold a flashlight in my hand. Next, there is a set of NAR Trauma Shears and a Gerber Multitool. The shears are for cutting away clothing and equipment if I am treating someone I am hunting with. The multitool is pretty self-explanatory. Next, there is a small trauma kit on the off chance I get separated from my backpack that has a full ifak inside of it. Then there is a sharpie, and finally a Glock 17 mag. All of my spare mags are at least 17 rounders to guarantee use with any double stack 9mm Glock.
