Great topic, certainly part of ones emcomm/sigint plan..

I often head to the heart of the city, drive a grid pattern with uniden sds-100 connected to diamond mobile discone wideband antenna, so i can be in my auto and listening to various bands/freqs, all manner of digi, (non encrypted) traffic, and analog traffic floating about…

I can output audo to car speaker system too…

Amazing what can be picked up by rolling thru, or parked close to, hood rat havens too…They like their little bubble pack frs/gmrs units too…

Remember, in times of crisis, w widespread electrical, weather issues or societal disfunction, most agencies will operate on analog bands/freqs as secondary modes due to interoperability issues…

Good reminder that some times what you want to hear will be hiding in plain sight (analog).

I need to look up the operating freqs of Apple AirTags. Some news stories have talked about ppl using those to stalk exs, etc.

In my former blue jurisdiction, I could sometimes pick up State police drug task force surveillance of static drug dealers or gang members. That AO was fully digital, but the traffic was easy to intercept from 20 miles away with a digital scanner programmed with the SP TAC channels listed of Radio Ref. Most of the descriptions sent back by the spotter involved target subject’s clothing and behavior and interactions with others. If the target had been monitoring the same channel as I was he would have recognized himself in the descriptions.
