DeSantis: Move federal agencies outside DC

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) suggested in a new interview that some federal agencies should be moved out of Washington, D.C. to counter the “accumulation of power” in the nation’s capital.

“Too much power has accumulated in D.C. and the result is a detached administrative state that rules over us and imposes its will on us,” DeSantis said in an interview with The New York Post published on Saturday.

“While there are a host of things that need to be done to re-constitutionalize government, parceling out federal agencies to other parts of the country could help reduce the negative effects of this accumulation of power.”

DeSantis also defended his controversial actions around education, saying he does not “promise things [he] can’t deliver.”

So just reform the edges instead of fixing the root cause? These agencies don’t need to be sent to the middle of Nebraska. They need to be dismantled, defunded, disarmed, and disbanded at the bare minimum.

This is kind of what I mean when I’ve said conservatives aren’t serious. That conservatism in its top down, centralized setup was always setup to be controlled opposition. A loyal opposition. The kind of people who in 1776 said they were pro independence but that the Boston Tea Party and fighting back at Lexington Green and Concord was wrong. Just petition George III and Lord North one more time, they’ll listen! Petition harder damnit! Parliament will fix this!

Either dismantle these bureaus or it’s over. Their physical location doesn’t mean a damn thing when they can wield real, physical authority over you.

I agree moving won’t change anything…..it might have if this was the pre internet age. Even actually holding them accountable for the violations of the very laws and the constitution that they all swore an oath to defend would be a welcome change.

And who, exactly is to do the dismantling, Ghostmann?

I’m afraid it’s been over for a long time, already. We’re all just trying to survive what comes, not trying to force what needs to come.
Could it be time to change strategy? Sure!

    You, first. ;)
