Summary of the ATF Pistol Brace Seminar
My brother JohnyMac attended a webinar on the ATF’s new Pistol Brace rule and did a great summary below. There are just two different nuggets I want to highlight, but you should definitely read the full summary on his forum.
- Open or metal sights on a brace pistol are legal, while telescopic sights are not. Telescopic sights MAY constitutes
a rifle. - If you are to remove your brace device, and the brace is not stored with the pistol, you are in compliance of
the new rule.
A link to JohnyMac’s summary on his forum is below.

Fuck them. I’d tell them to choke on their new rule, but we all know a BAT Fag has no gag reflex.
I think the chances are pretty good this rule will not survive legal challenges.
Folks, I am a die hard 2A, and seen enough combat to know when to and how to work with my tools. But, folks the government has no right ruling our 2A tools but these belong to fantasy the not to the real world. …, leave it in the combat arena where the solider has a ROE.
What the fuck are you even talking about? “I am die hard 2A but pistol braces belong only to soldiers”.
Spoiler: You aren’t die hard 2A.
He has no more reading comprehension of the words “shall not be infringed” than any of the folks at the ATF.
Seems to me that you’re contradicting yourself “the government has no right ruling our 2A tools” but then making excuses for them doing it. I thought bumpstocks were a silly novelty and would never buy one but still fully support you getting one if you want to. The atf changing the rules on pistol braces is the same thing as with the bumpstocks, you can have one until we decide that you can’t. Sorry the Second Amendment doesn’t work that way.
