    I wish I could post some photos of iron bacteria that I have seen in municipal wells over the years as an engineer. It gets on everything. And is a real bugger to kill, as it clogs up everything and reduces the amount of water you can get out of the well. Now I’ve encountered sulfur reducing bacteria in wells also, which gives you very stinky water, has a rotten egg small and grayish black slime. When the slime dries on say a line shaft or pipe, you can hit it and it will shatter like glass and has sort of a gun powdery smell to it.
