REPOST TDG 14 Recap and Analysis

Originally posted on June 15, 2022

Another tough situation with no perfect options, TDG 14: Personnel Recovery hit you with ethical decisions as well as tactical decisions.  We have an imperfect plan cobbled together without force multipliers, an enemy with unclear capabilities, potential compromise, and on top of all that we have something of a moral commitment to our action.

Due to the situation we have a limited set of options available to us.  It is, however, not as limited as some readers may think.

Very useful information in this article.

Clear back when we read this one the first time, I was at a slight loss. It bothered me that the husband/wife hadn’t already agreed to some allowance for their individual loss. Basically, not endanger the group with their capture…take the pain.

However, a few days after this exercise it occurred that the best move forward could benefit both groups. That’s right, a parlay. It may be that the two groups consolidated into one, may in fact, be of greater value. Not everything has to boil down to war first.

So you believe it would be wise to join forces with a group of thugs who kidnap lone women? A group like that is not one which should be trusted, bargained with, or allied with. And they have already made the first act of aggression towards your group.

Possibly…Unholy alliances are formed all the time when shit breaks down. There was never enough info in the exercise to define the “group of thugs” as you have labeled them. They may be valuable assets to offset the pro marauders like the cops and military progressives in this scenario.

“group of thugs” is not my label, it was in the original TDG article
Personally, I see anyone who would abduct a woman walking down the road as nothing other than a threat. How can someone who willfully harms or kidnaps innocents ever be trustworthy? What if the situation were altered a little and they had abducted a child from your group? And further, how is your group going to maintain trust in each other if, rather than looking out for your own, you work together with the ones who harmed on of your own?
