Civilizational Disintegration and the Universal State

One of the most conspicuous marks of disintegration…is a phenomenon in the last stage but one of the decline and fall, when a disintegrating civilization purchases a reprieve by submitting to a forcible political unification in a universal state.Arnold Toynbee, A Study of History, Volume IV: The Breakdowns of Civilizations

About the Author: Patriotman

Patriotman currently ekes out a survivalist lifestyle in a suburban northeastern state as best as he can. He has varied experience in political science, public policy, biological sciences, and higher education. Proudly Catholic and an Eagle Scout, he has no military experience and thus offers a relatable perspective for the average suburban prepper who is preparing for troubled times on the horizon with less than ideal teams and in less than ideal locations. Interesting, BUT–here is a historian who clearly states:

“I believe we have no certain knowledge of what is right and wrong…”

    WHAT?

Q: “How can a historian, of exhaustive efforts of a 12 volume series, NOT point to the Old or New Testament of what is “right” and what is “wrong?”

Did not even pagan re-Christian have codes of what is right and what is wrong.

Even ‘natural law,’ engraved upon each human’s heart tells them what is right and what is wrong.

Is Toynbee’s thesis: We will educate everyone in society and then, as a community, decide ourselves what is right and wrong? Humm…Adam and Eve post a Satanic visit or Marx, Lenin, and Stalin thinking?

Give me the OT and Jesus in the NT any day of the week–and twice on Sundays as to what is right and to what is wrong.
