WASCO, CA – A California man, later identified as 27-year-old Resendo Tellez, was arrested and charged by local authorities after he took possession of a dismembered leg of a train accident victim.

Bystanders recorded Tellez as he casually walked down the street with the severed leg as if nothing was out of the ordinary. At one point in the video, Tellez lifted the leg towards his face, and it appeared he possibly either sniffed it or chewed on it.

Videos and pictures of the unedited gruesome scene circulated on social media. However, the original post by the Kern County Sheriff’s X page has since been removed for “violating the X rules.

Timeline of Events

On Friday, March 22nd, the Kern County Fire Department was dispatched to Wasco, California at a stretch of the train station after receiving a report of a train colliding with a person.

The fire department arrived at approximately 8:05 a.m. and the person was quickly pronounced dead at the scene. Train collisions often leave victims dismembered as they can reach speeds of up to 59 miles per hour.

At some point after the collision, Tellez recovered the dismembered leg, which was located nearby on a sidewalk. After picking up the leg, Tellez was captured on cell phone video by a local bystander who noticed what was going on.

The person recording the video can be heard saying, “He’s eating that sh**.” He then said in Spanish, “What the f*** are you doing?”

After several moments, Tellez looks at the video recorder and waves toward him. He then wipes his face with his sleeve and walks away.

Police then arrived at the scene seconds later, but Tellez ignored their orders to stop, held up the leg, and continued walking away from the police at which point the video ended

According to local media, this is the second time a missing body part was recovered this year. A civilian recently recovered a dismembered hand and turned it in to local authorities. No details or information regarding the hand was provided.

Police were able to apprehend and arrest Tellez.

According to jail records, Tellez was arrested on misdemeanor charges of removing human body parts that are “not a cemetery and without approval from law enforcement.” He also had outstanding warrants.

I guess he got a leg up. I’d say give him a hand but he’s probably full.
