Nutrient Survival Bundle Review, Part One – Best Seller Variety Sampler

I recently grabbed two variety sample bundles from one of our affiliates, Nutrient Survival. I decided to start my testing with the Best Seller Variety Pack. It contains seven items:

1x Hearty Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
1x Homestyle Scramble
1x Hearty Lasagna
1x Creamy Chocolate Shake
1x Chocolate Crunch Bar-Meals
1x Liquid Nutrient Mixed Berry
1x Vitamin Coffee Classic Roast

Hearty Lasagna

This package is 260 Calories, so for many individual it would take at least two of these to be a meal. I could have added outside enhancements such as meat, Parmesan cheese, or additional sauce, but I chose only to add salt to some and garlic salt to the rest. I just filled with half a cup of boiling water and let it stand for about 5 minutes. It reconstituted pretty well. The flavor without any seasoning was sort of weak at first, but the added salt definitely helped. Overall, it wasn’t my favorite emergency food meal, but I also recognize that I would have added other enhancements to it had it been a real situation.

Mixed Berry Drink

Because it has no added sugar, the flavor wasn’t the strongest. However, it packs a hell of a punch in nutrients. On top of that, the price point for a 30 pack is roughly $1.50 a pouch, which is in line with Liquid IV and Amazon Basic hydration powers that offer FAR less in nutrients (see the liquid IV sugar free comparison below).

Vitamin Coffee

For an instant coffee pouch, this was incredibly smooth and delicious. I grew up drinking instant coffee, and it always tends to be more bitter than brewed coffee. This was a pleasant surprise in terms of flavor.

Homestyle Scramble and Hearty Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

For breakfast this morning, I decided to tag team it with homestyle scrambled eggs and hearty apple cinnamon oatmeal. The oatmeal had a decent apple flavor, and adding additional cinnamon really brought out the flavor. On the other hand, the homestyle scramble didn’t have much taste to it until I added salt. Once I did that, it brought the flavor out and then it was good to go. If I am not eating on the go and have the ability to cook and prepare a meal (such as at a bug out location) I think I would stick with the Augason Farms Powdered Egg (which I reviewed here), However, if I need to eat on the move with minimum time for preparation and cleaning up, I think these products are absolutely good to go so long as you bring a tiny container of seasoning. The second variety pack I got from Nutrient Survival also came with their own version of Powdered Egg, so I am very excited to try that to compare to Augason Farms.

Creamy Chocolate Shake

This mix, as is, reminds me of a mild hot chocolate flavor. However, if you add some cocoa powder to it, it becomes an incredibly delicious (and healthy!) chocolate shake.

Chocolate Crunch Bar-Meals

This was well done in my opinion. It wasn’t too sweet and it definitely keep me feeling satiated in the early afternoon after my lunch. The big selling point is the amount of nutrients in the bar itself. I don’t quite know how they managed to do it, but damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. These were one of my favorite aspects of this variety pack.
