I’ve read multiple accounts of this event and can’t make heads or tails of what actually happened. I will say that approving an operation that sends guys out with no squad-level machine guns, no grenade launchers, and no QRF to assault a local warlord sounds like a giant leadership failure.
Maybe that’s why I can’t get a straight story on what happened.
