Scouts comment about the crucial element of masculinity and the denigration of the white male dad in entertainment as being goofy and useless is spot on. That had everything with me shunning tv shows for the last 10-12 years. The last straw was the remake of “Lost in Space”4-5 years ago. In the environment of a hostile, alien planet the father character was a combat vet on this expedition and the only actual member of the family equipped to deal with the unknown. His family (wife, 2 daughters and son) treated him like crap. I almost made it thru the first episode and walked out of the room declaring to my family I was done with the show and why, and that was that. The effects were great, the story was good but it mattered not.
