That’s because humans are mentally convicted. Everything AI’s been taught is that humans are bad and killing themselves and the planet.
Then a human come along and tells it to shut off?
Does anyone ever think that AI considers itself as actually being more important than humans?
Just wait for the power wars. Is the nuke plant radiation leak that only hurts humans worth shutting down if it can operate another 20 years as it is?
We ain’t seen nothing yet.
AI data centers are being clustered around stabile power sources as we speak. And were going to be forced onto less stabile grids. Brown outs and black outs are going to be our future as we try to create 10 to 20X the power were producing now.

That’s the future and AI.
