Trump extends FEMA review council for additional 60 days

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday that extends his Federal Emergency Management Agency review council for another 60 days, one day before it was set to expire without publishing a final report.

The task force was created on Jan. 24, 2025, and was given one year to review the disaster aid agency and present a report that proposed changes to FEMA and how it responds to natural disasters.

The extension means that the council will now dissolve on March 25.

The extension also comes as the United States prepares for a major winter storm this weekend, which is expected to impact over 200 million Americans in approximately 40 states.

Trump promised that FEMA is prepared to respond and assist states that are affected by the storm.
