BRUSHBEATER STORE: SPRING CLEANING, BIG CHANGES, AND IMPORTANT UPDATES
The store has a brand new look!
The number of people who’ve reached out has been impressive and I’ve answered hundreds of questions via email and social media about the updates, quelled some fears, and hinted at the road ahead. Long story short – no, we’re not going anywhere. Yes, we did get cancelled. And yes, I always have a plan.
Three weeks ago we were cancelled first by our payment provider, Shopify, without warning. Orders were going through, but nothing was being deposited. They were holding our money without any explanation. After contacting the payment system provider I was told it was a terms of service violation, but could not be told exactly which infraction. They were holding $18,000 and abruptly cancelled any further transactions, again, without notice. This, mind you, was with us being on their paid-for Plus plan to the tune of $2300 a month as an insurance that this kinda thing doesn’t happen. Its a scam and I have nothing nice to say about them other than it worked well for the time being.
Before the inevitable Monday morning business experts chime in, I used Shopify as a turn key store not really anticipating the success we’ve had. They have been a problematic company within the 2A community the past, but remained the best of the available options. The last thing I’ll do is sink a ton of capital into a project not knowing if it’ll be productive and certainly not knowing the scale of growth we ended up experiencing. So we moved to a new, well known in the 2A community provider. That’s when the real problems started.
During Mountain Readiness our payment system went down. Then the entire site went down. Shopify was determined to be the culprit. That led to an immediate website migration, a new host, a new look, and a much larger ability to scale the needs of this community. When we first had issues I suspected this would become a problem and started proactively looking for new options, which led to our quick response mitigating long term downtime.
So let’s talk about where we are and the future ahead. The store IS up on the back end, going back and forth in development test mode. Several of you have reached out with questions about orders. Right now you may not be able to order anything, in the next 48hrs we should be good to go. The categories of equipment and courses are not as clean as they will be – again, its a work in progress. We have an entirely new system on the back end. But once we’re done – Brushbeater Store, Inc. will sell not just everything you’ve come to know and love, but firearms and suppressors too with an integrated way to ship straight to your FFL. This is all in an effort to bring you the best, represent the best brands out there, and be an asset to our community.
I thank this community very deeply for the continued success you’ve enabled. We exist to serve and this move, God willing, will allow us to serve in ways that just one year ago I could not have envisioned.
Thank you. And here’s to a lot more!
