Hasan Piker Calls for Destroying the White Race: ‘That’s What We’re Here to Do’

Left-wing political streamer Hasan Piker is facing renewed scrutiny after a resurfaced video showed him making an inflammatory remark about “destroy[ing] the white race,” as his growing involvement with Democratic candidates sparks an intraparty debate.

The clip resurfaced on social media this week and was amplified by Resist the Mainstream on Tuesday. Piker can be heard making the remark while discussing immigration and mocking fears surrounding demographic change.

“We’re gonna destroy the white race, b*tch,” Piker said in the clip. “That’s what we’re here to do.”

The remark has circulated widely among Piker’s critics in recent days, including Elon Musk, who responded to the controversy by writing, “He means what he says.”

Forbes reported Tuesday that Piker made the statement while mocking right-wing conspiracy theories, rather than literally advocating the destruction of white people.

Piker has appeared alongside Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed and Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong.

He has also appeared with several prominent progressive lawmakers, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA).

Those associations have increasingly become a point of contention among Democrats as Republicans highlight Piker’s history of provocative statements.

El-Sayed has faced particular scrutiny over his association with the streamer after narrowly defeating Rep. Haley Stevens in Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary.

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman (D) recently challenged El-Sayed to continue campaigning with Piker, while Democratic strategist James Carville has also criticized Piker’s growing prominence within progressive politics.

El-Sayed has defended appearing with Piker while stressing that doing so does not mean he agrees with all of the streamer’s positions.

“Because you appear with somebody doesn’t mean you agree with them on everything,” El-Sayed recently told Fox News, according to Forbes.

Piker has generated controversy for other statements throughout his career.

In 2019, he famously said “America deserved 9/11,” a remark that has repeatedly resurfaced as his political profile has grown.

Piker has since acknowledged that the statement was inappropriate and said he should have better explained what he meant, though he stopped short of apologizing for it.

El-Sayed addressed that controversy Sunday, describing Piker’s 9/11 comment as a “dumb statement.”

Piker has also drawn criticism over his rhetoric concerning Israel and Hamas. Forbes reported that he has previously said Israel is worse than Hamas and has faced accusations of antisemitism over some of his commentary.

Despite the controversies, Piker maintains a substantial online following, particularly among younger progressive voters.

His increased involvement in electoral politics comes as progressive candidates have scored a series of primary victories around the country, raising questions about the direction of the Democratic Party heading into the 2026 midterm elections.

Ocasio-Cortez was recently asked whether Piker should have a role in the progressive movement. She did not directly answer but argued Democrats need to engage with the platforms and conversations attracting younger Americans.

Piker has acknowledged that his online persona contains an element of performance.

“In some ways it is a performance,” Piker recently told Rolling Stone, according to Forbes. “But existence is a performance.”
