The Curious Case Of ‘DataRepublican’, by NC Scout

I’ll often use jarring or dark humor in class to break up the monotony of what can be dry topics. After all, the science of radio theory can get a little dry, as can the intricacies and nuances of intelligence collection. One way I do this is mentioning my theory on Stephen Hawking. Ol’ Stephen was one of the greatest of psyops pulled on the contemporary West steering the leftward trajectory of STEM, and like all great psyops, it generates quite the polarity of opinions when you point out the incongruent facts running contrary to his story. Like…I dunno…living over forty seven years with a condition that averages mortality in less than three. And yet still, people refuse to believe it even though it would cost them absolutely nothing in terms of social capital to do so. The investment into the perceived social bonds are simply too strong to realize the fairy tale of Hawking doesn’t quite add up. And you get angry when you realize you fell for it, digging your heels in, because admitting you’ve been lied to is an admission you lied to yourself. Of course this brings us to the curious case of Jennica Pounds, more commonly known as ‘DataRepublican’.

Jennica’s story begins as benign enough. A simple…uh, data researcher (yeah, we’ll go with that) who started looking into NGO finance chains and promulgating the findings. Musk quickly jumped on board giving it a platform and like all good conservatives, you jumped all in. “Well hell, somebody’s doing something!” you shouted from the rooftops. And I’ll admit, it sounded great even to me despite the immediate signs of the math not mathin’. Coming out of the covid era we were subjected to brutal repression 0f free speech through big tech censorship. People were, and remain, desperate for their voices to be heard. Unfortunately this creates a condition where even the most skeptical can fall for a fairy tale answer that’s just too good to be true.

Pounds’ framers capitalized on that social drive in the worst kind of way: offer a blowoff valve. Early on the NGO link association mapping was likely 100% real. Nothing like a criminal telling you how they pulled off the crime and in this case making you believe someone is doing something about it. Sadly all of it was a road to nowhere at best, tracking with the implementation of Palantir inside the Department of War and the rise of Flock cameras for mass surveillance. The fly-by-night types told you that these measures were first for mass deportations (which didn’t happen) and then “to keep us safe from terrorism” while they blatantly initiate a war that helps no one in the US amid rampant crime, street takeovers, and a general deteriorating condition of our lying eyes. Hey, those Somalis are fleecing the American middle class while you struggle to buy groceries, but hey, at least someone is doing something even if that something leads to nothing as intended. Better her than you, in their eyes.

Remember Nina Jancowicz and Biden’s disinformation governance board? Remember the principle objection to a government run ‘ministry of truth’? There’s barely a distinction between that and this. It is my personal suspicion that Pounds’ case is an outcome of the objections to that previous program. Its quite easy to decry the liberal millenial woman talking with birdhands but the religion of political correctness, even on the mainstream Right, forbids criticism of the disabled. And this was the first clue Pounds didn’t add up. The second was the immediacy of group consensus that surrounded her. The rather intense following that grew overnight was a thing to behold and at least some of it was likely genuine. After all, as the median X user increases in age, so does the tailoring of the message and the audience that invests in it. As time would wear on Pounds’ shtick of  “Hello Mr. XXXX” as some sort of internet vigilante anti-hero began to read more like the AI prompt that created it rather than a genuine takedown. When there were no physical results, fewer and fewer were going for it even if they remained fully invested in the lie. It became easier to externalize the lack of results, attributing them to other factors, never admitting that the whole program is running as intended.

Where it really ran amok was around America’s 250th Birthday. Patriot Front does a rally in DC putting out solid messaging. Say what one will about them, but the overall presentation is exactly on point. Then the attacks began from an unfortunately familiar angle. Now we know the Right is no monolith in the US, historically prone to paranoia, infighting and purity spirals, but in this case it certainly felt different. DataRepublican came after them nearly immediately and with an urgency, getting even small accounts of little influence banned for the mere sharing of Patriot Front’s speech. To my somewhat trained eye this was an absolute indicator that not only was ‘DataRepublican’ a team effort, but they also have access to censorship powers they shouldn’t have on the backend. Boy was I not wrong. There was a distinct shift in mechanisms of control from attacking Leftist NGO finance chains to now focusing almost exclusively on the the non-conforming Right. Even accounts that run adjacent to certain circles were not spared – my own on X had its growth in followership and visibility frozen for several months and continues to be so despite a lack of blatantly controversial postings. But because I, and others, have network associations on the periphery we get caught in the fray as well. So be it.

Then the wheels fell of the wagon. Pounds’ program was given access to a file that was urgently important regarding possible future operations in Cuba. Cuba, by the way, has been the nexus of communist training in the West and was the genesis of a great many careers coming to fruition in the mid-level Democrat politburo. Instead of moving forward with the operation, the sperg sperged out, instead claiming the State Dept was trying to frame her in a Valerie Plame-type situation. That wasn’t exactly the case but what it did do was expose the link between her and governmental entities, since the access to the information granted under her cover for status as a press member had now lapsed. It lapsed because she herself is a government employee. And now you all know. Whoopsie daisy.

That leaves us with the inevitable wagon circling, the same wagon with no wheels, going on amid a failed and blatantly illegal shaping operation being run by the USG. All of the objections the Right held against the ‘disinformation czar’ of old certainly apply here because it is in fact the same operation being run, same targets and all. But the right people were running it, according to a great many, and therefor you’re unable to rectify it. You were the target, congratulations. And Pounds’ case is not the lone one currently being run. Nor will it be the last. Most disappointing is that such an operation had a golden opportunity to do something meaningful for once, cutting off a critical leg of Democrat Marxist ideology, now squandered and leaving them further emboldened.
