I don’t think many folks understand that this was 250 days without a liberty call. Meaning stuck on the ship with the same assholes for damn near a year, and not having a resupply with decent food. The longest carrier deployment in WW II was 79 days. I’ve deployed on a frigate for 117 days without a port call in the same AO, but we had decent resupply, as we had bases there to which fresh food could be flown in and it could be shipped to us and we could resupply underway. We don’t have those resupply ships or bases anymore, and the Iranian missile defenses have increased both in quantity and quality since then. Now the supply ships have been scrapped, the bases have been destroyed, and the fleet cannot approach closer than 250 miles without the severe threat of missile and drone attack. A missile or drone attack is not something you want to suffer during flight ops on a carrier. The closest resupply is Dodge-Diego Garcia-and it’s a “fur piece” from the Gulf of Oman.

The idiots who started this war need to be shitcanned, and that includes Trump. A clean sweep of the upper echelon on the Navy needs to go. I do not believe that many understand the implications of this defeat that the Iranians have handed us. They will start feeling it in the next month of two when there are shortages of diesel and jet fuel, and when the currency crisis arrives. Trump has killed the petro dollar arrangement with this war by demonstrating for everyone on the planet that we cannot defend either them or us. I doubt that we will have any presence in the middle east from now on. Thankfully.
