Kelly McCann: Defensive Handgun

One of the all-time best at his craft and right up there with Clint Smith in my opinion. No tacticool bullshit.

Agreed. Kelly is the real deal.
I still have his Combative Pistol DVD from back in the day.

I found that very good.I have a ? though,he talks about not having a belt loop holster as takes too much time to dump pistol/holster,am wondering why that would be a situation, perhaps I have need for another cup of coffee.
He really does get a lot out there in a short period of time, good way to start day with coffee.

So you don’t get caught with a pistol on your person. If you kill a guy, you can dump your pistol and holster and come back for it later. If you get caught with a holster and no pistol, it’s still obvious that you had a pistol at some point. If you ditch both, you have more of a defense/plausible deniability going for you, especially if you claim to have been spray painting something earlier in the day.

James: when one is carrying in the “non permissive environment” , at times, the “tactical thing to do” is to ditch the weapon and casually walk away, at least until you are clear of the immediate environment when you may want to run like hell or get into a car. If the weapon is found, and you are wearing an empty holster……

Since my first comment is awaiting moderation, can you not use it and use my second comment? I know I can be tracked by my IP address, but why make it any easier?

Why, like a dumbass, did I use my real name? For James: sometimes the wise thing to do is to immediately dispose of the weapon, especially in the “non-permissive environment”. When the gun is found, and you are wearing an empty holster, sometimes bad things can ensue.

If I’m not mistaken I think he’s talking about going from permissible areas to nonpermissible areas like govt buildings and the like or when he was still working undercover and couldn’t risk being caught with a gun on him?

Thanks to all who replied to me ?I see now the point of quick release, that said, really hope not in that type of situation but if am guess all things that might help me need to be worked into lifestyle.

Excellent presentation! I love the ergonomics of fluid body motion and economy of movements. I rarely modify my shooting routine but some of his suggestions will be incorporated asap…..they just make sense.

Watching this definitely made me reassess what I’ve been doing and what I’ve been taught at courses. Thanks for sharing another gem, NC Scout. My tabs and bookmarks are being steadily dominated by AP posts.

Well, because of the title, defensive handgun, I was all ready to get offensive on my take of this post. But no, the dude right on the money. If you’re using a mechanical holster you’re asking to get kilt. I’m to up and down and active through out the day to carry appendix. I carry strong side and work with it a lot. Not as fast as appendix, but the best I can do with my life style. I’m hoping the CONCEALED aspect gives me an edge. After it’s out, it is offensive. All the way to my rifle.
