Some time after the Winter Olympics are over…
…and before Xi might find a different administration in DC.

We are beginning construction of chip foundries on American soil but it takes years from breaking ground to getting production online.
Given the time frame noted above, they likely will not be up and running in time.
Psst, don’t tell any Chinese this….

Thanks for posting. I wish him to be right and I hope I am wrong.

I appreciate his POV regarding China’s approach towards Taiwan but China’s threatening rhetoric toward Japan leads me to believe otherwise. China threatened Japan with nuclear war if they got involved on Taiwan’s side. That sounds pretty determined.
It’s Chinese national pride. China wants her territory back. Japan is an ancient enemy of China plus China still wants payback for WWII.
I know the area. I predicted China would move on Taiwan before the mid-terms and that was before Biden’s Afghanistan fiasco. I’m still convinced. Our ships are vulnerable. Don’t forget Britain lost the HMS Sheffield to an Exocet in 1982 and missile technology has greatly improved. Our Navy has suffered from administrations promoting officers based on race and whether they stand or sit to piss and who they kiss. Biden will bluster and stutter ultimately stand down.
Anton is right. We don’t want to risk losing a carrier and 6500 souls over a non-state alley.
Now, a Trump in the WH would be a different story.

But… won’t Gen, Milley’s Chinese general buddy call him up and warn him so we won’t be surprised when they attack? The stripping of critical industry from America to Asia, China in particular began before Bill Clinton was installed, and accelerated on his watch. Various critical military industries transferred technology to China, with Clinton’s stamp of approval. Loral Corporation gave China advanced aviation and missile avionics, just one technology transfer of many, but a really bad one. The stripping of critical industries and shifting them to Asia, was by design, a way to build China and weaken America, which has been successful; this is of course, hard to “prove”, but decades of actions speak for themselves. By design or not the rise of China, and weakening of America is the result of 40 years “working with China”. Who hate us and covet our land, by the way…
