US Vulnerable to EMP, Experts Warning Once Again
“That poses a real threat of possibly being able to win a war with a single blow by means of an EMP attack. Moreover … they don’t envision employing an EMP by itself. It would be used in conjunction with cyberattacks and physical sabotage, and non-nuclear EMP,” Peter Vincent Pry, the task force’s executive director, said at Tuesday’s event, which was moderated by Washington Times Foundation President Michael Jenkins.
“This is regarded by Russia, China, North Korea and Iran as potentially the most decisive military revolution in history,” Mr. Pry said. “By attacking the technological Achilles heel of a nation like the United States, you could bring us to our knees and not even have to do battle with the Marines or the Navy or the Air Force, and win a war in 24 hours with a single blow — a combined EMP cyberattack.”

This has been and ongoing discussion (and quite obvious to most of us reading posts like this), but it has *also* been one of the most disregarded by most folks…
I would venture to suggest that, much like any precautionary or anticipatory efforts, there is no “flashiness” to it; it is difficult to quantify the efficacy of any plans to prevent it.
Kinda like “EMP-resistant” marketing for gun safes: sure, one could invest in it, but would it *really* work when and of it ever happens?
Yep–mighty low priority, since it doesn’t have the “Flashiness” for the Congress Critters to fix.
Worse yet–due to the meatheads in the EPA and other alphabet soup agencies, America does NOT produce those huge electrical transformers you see at sub-stations. The PCBs in ’em scared producers off. Only source I find is South Korea–and they have a “many moons” backlog already.
PS Your local “Smoke Eaters” had better be well equipped to handle these transformers should sabotage/EMP occur. Especially if they catch fire and start blowing up:

That’s been a problem for a long time. If SHTF happens and you have an unruly neighborhood, likely they’ll shoot out the transformers for fun and leave people powerless for months if not longer.
