I give that map a No-Go for making me correlate sizes of the same colored circles to determine what I’m looking at.

Russia seems to be approaching a “use it or loose it” moment on the one hand, but they have been very patient on the other. They see themselves as gotten nothing but screwed by the West since the fall of the Soviet Union, and may well be to the point of their patience having run out. They might feel they have nothing to loose by shoring up their borders.

If the West, and the U.S. in particular, hits them with “sanctions”, so what? They are ready to work with China, and dump the dollar anyway. China will most assuredly side with Russia politically, economically, and militarily at this point. Almost a perfect play to break the U.S. economically, and give China freedom of movement also.

China probably really wanted for the Olympics to be over before all of this happens, so their immediate response will be interesting. If the Russians do decide it is time to move, this could trigger who knows how many other “minor incursions”. Also, could this trigger sleeper cells within the U.S.?
