The best reason to run your own? Flight aware filters out planes that the owner says they don’t want tracked (like .gov) on the website.
Your feed directly from your computer is unfiltered. Know who is REALLY above you. (FWIW, have tracked flights myself that never show up on the FA website even though I am feeding them myself.)
