Clean and Maintain your tools….often.

Regular cleaning and maintenance of your party tools, is an absolute must. I know that many folks like to only do it on occasion, and that’s ok… you do you, but for me I clean and inspect mine every time I shoot them. Doesn’t matter if it’s 10 rounds or 1,000 rounds. For the little bit of time that it takes to do it, it’s save me some grief on more than one occasion. I figured I’d share the latest example. I was doing the usual cleaning and inspection routine after a recent trip to the range, when I noticed that one of the gas rings on a bolt had piece broke off. The last time I shot and cleaned that rifle, it was fine. This particular range trip it only had about 100 rounds put through it. But somewhere in that 100 rounds, the gas ring lost a chunk. It’s not a big deal, it happens and that’s why we keep spare parts on hand.

But imagine being in a real situation, and having your party tool stop working when you need it most, all for lack of a little inspection/cleaning time, and a $.60 part. Keep your tools in good working order, inspect and lube them often, and chances are they won’t let you down when you need them most.
