Desantis promises Constitutional Carry in Florida.

Florida Governor Ron Desantis has promised that before he is finished as Florida governor, Florida will join the ranks of states that have “Constitutional Carry”. Constitutional Carry allows anyone who is legally allowed to own a firearm to carry that firearm openly or concealed in public. Some refer to it as “permitless carry”.

I’ve been watching this for years come up and be killed in the Florida legislature. All firearm related bills in Florida must pass through the Senate judiciary committee for a vote. Every year almost all pro-gun bills are shot down in committee despite having a 7-3 Republican majority in the committee. For several years, despite reshuffling committee seats after election seasons, the committee maintains at least a few anti-gun Republicans who vote with the Democrats on gun bills. This turns the committee to a 6-4 anti-gun committee. Senate President Wilton Simpson is an anti-gun Republican as well. He is not going bring the bills to the floor of the Senate without committee approval. When a pro-gun bill makes it a final floor vote, it will pass.

Despite being Republican controlled, the Florida Senate is weak when it comes to gun rights. The best they’ve done this past decade is simply hold the line, but they even fail at doing that sometimes. The speed at which they violated our rights after the Parkland school shooting was astonishing.

If Desantis wants Constitutional Carry in Florida, he’s probably going to have to pull some legislative tricks. The state of the Senate judiciary committee (and the Senate rules committee as well) is still unfavorable for pro-gun bills in Florida.

“Shall issue states” is code for not issue states. “Right to carry states” is code for you have to jump though hoops and press the begger button and pay a fee before some state employee may possibly issue a permit.

Question why do we allow states to issue licenses (permission) for anything?

As Christians, we should never bend the knee to the government god called “we the people”. As Pastor Ted R. Weiland correctly states – “There is no such thing as unalienable rights; there are only God-ordained responsibilities.” Owning and carrying a firearm to protect you and your family is a God-ordained responsibility.

Keep in mind, government laws always impede free markets and create shortages resulting in higher prices and they by intent always reduce the God-ordained responsibility of the individual to protect his family and property. Who is John Galt? TEXIT!

That isn’t accurate at all. Like, not even close.

May Issue states are code for potentially not issue states. Some states, like California, depend on the county. Other states, like New Jersey, are basically no issue states.

Shall issue states are code for “unless we find something, you get it”. That is vastly different from your definition of “not issue states”.

Constitutional Carry states, otherwise known as right to carry states, literally do not require a permit.

You are more than welcome to carry without a license, but also be prepared to suffer the consequences of such a decision.
