Request for Information (RFI) – Weekly SITREP
I am going to make this a weekly post so that we can use this as a place to make any reports on unusual activity or localized hotspots of trouble. We did this a few times during COVID (here, here, here, and here) but I figured that, as our conditions continue to degrade around the country, it would be useful to bring this back as a regularly recurring topic of discussion.
Post your reports in the comments below.

10% reg gas $2.86/gal in 51012 zip.
So, factory in zip 51025 decided to start hiring Spanish speaking people en masse. White people all ready employed there for some time have different work ethics than lets say Hispanics and Cubans. Yet if whites go to usual management regarding getting the other ethinic groups to do their job properly, i.e. slacking off, being indifferent about job, “I don’t care” their main theme, literally stand and watch whites do their job, harass the whites endlessly, the white people are told to basically take up the slack, or you are the problem. The result of that is white people shown the door, quality product has gone markedly down, and turn over rate on quarterly basic has reached an incredible 98.44% turn over!! NEVER use to be more than 30% as industry standard in the region. The factory management openly say they are re-evaluating the hiring protocol. Being bi-lingual over no English high on the list, more discerning over hiring warm bodies. I’m trying to be neutral, you get the point.
Alan,
The Hispanics, including the Cubans, are they
recent “arrivals” to the US?
Either way, any such slacking and bullying
should not be permitted, or better, avoided
to begin with.
Amongst those, are there any with decency
and morals?

Civil Unrest / Crime:
# A judge has again issued an arrest warrant for a West Pawlet Vermont property owner of a former firearms training center on his private 30 acres of land. Vermont State Sen. Philip Baruth, a Democrat and Communist from Burlington, introduced a bill in the Legislature to ban paramilitary training centers in the state. The bill passed and was signed in May by Republican Gov. Phil Scott.
# Rino U.S. Senator from Maine Susan Collins has sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maine suggesting a law enforcement crackdown a vast network of illegal Chicom-owned marijuana growing operations in the state.
# The Maine State Chamber of Commerce recently held a closed-to-the-public meeting with the Mills Administration to coordinate efforts supporting a planned “Office of New Americans (ONA).” Gov. Janet Mills directed establishment the ONA via Executive Order on August 3. The ONA will be tasked with attracting “New Mainers” (illegal aliens), to address the state’s alleged workforce shortage, and sets a goal of bringing 75,000 people into Maine by 2029.
# A group of pro-Palestine groups will hold a rally Friday at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, to “protest the ongoing building of weaponry that feeds the imperialist genocide.” According to a spokesman: “Participating organizations include Maine Voices for Palestinian Rights, Students for Justice in Palestine from various college campuses in the state, the Maine Party for Socialism & Liberation, Portland CONFRONT, and the Maine Natural Guard.”
Interesting Local News / Events:
Cities and towns in Maine are scrambling to amend their Zoning laws to come into compliance with a new state law that requires “improved access to affordable housing.” A central feature of the law is a clause requiring unconditional allowance of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on any residential housing lot — meaning that these additional structures are not to be subjected to the same parking and density requirements as other buildings.
Public Service Interruptions: Minor weather related power outages in the region last week.

Update: While the military airlift to the Ukr and Gaza wars has slackened noticeably in the last few days, a Unkrainian AN-124 transport is currently landing in Bangor Maine at the ANG base, 1910hrs 6Dec. It took off from Harrisburg PA International Airport, which is across the river from the Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna. It is highly likely they embarked cargo from that installation. What is odd is the short flight to Bangor for such a long haul mil transport.

REPORT DATE

General Location:
Greensboro, NC, USA. Central area of NC
Food Price / Shortages:
As of late there are not any food shortages around this area. Also haven’t heard of any shortages in other areas. Food prices on the other hand keep going up at an inflated rate, much higher than the “official” inflation rate. Locally I have noticed a big price increase of basic food items. Canned vegetables have just gone up 50%. Walmart brand is now $0.68/can. Three months ago a can was $0.48/can. Even Aldi’s has gone up about the same. A gallon of store brand from concentrate orange juice is pushing $7.00. Chicken breasts and chicken tenders were price stable at $2.00 to $2.40 per pound. The prices have shot up to $3.00/lb. Even more if you don’t shop around. Prices have gone up across the board all food. The basics foods are becoming to expensive for some people and families. I tend to eat simply and cook most meals at home. I don’t shop at the “higher end” stores, so I don’t know about those prices.
Fuel Prices / Shortages:
Fuel prices have come down, much to my surprise. Prices range from $2.70 to $3.20 a gallon for 87 octane. Some of the flex fuel grades are even cheaper $2.50/gal. Gas prices are really good right now. There have not been any fuel shortages in my AO. I have not heard of any shortages in other areas either.
Unusual Military Movement:
No military movement to report. I do hear helicopters fly overhead at times but that is common. There are a number of reserve and national guard bases in my AO. Personal note: I work from home and don’t get out much. So there could be activity but I am not seeing it.
Civil Unrest / Crime:
Nothing to report. There have been a few protests since October, but they are have all been peaceful. I haven’t heard of any violent protests or any road blockages. I hope it stays that way.
Interesting Local News / Events:
Nothing to report. Just the usual holiday type events. I have noticed lots of people out a holiday related events. Almost every event is full of people. This is a good thing.
Public Service Interruptions:
Nothing to report
Changes in Patterns of Life:
Nothing to report, just food prices keep going up.
Any additional observations or comments:
With everything going in the country and the world I have noticed more people talking about prepping and firearms. Some of the people are not the type that I would label as preppers. I have overheard more people talking about world events and WW3. All that being said, people are upbeat and not letting the doom and gloom news stop them from living their lives. Local holiday events are full of people and famlies. All having a good time
