Request for Information (RFI) – Weekly SITREP
I am going to make this a weekly post so that we can use this as a place to make any reports on unusual activity or localized hotspots of trouble. We did this a few times during COVID (here, here, here, and here) but I figured that, as our conditions continue to degrade around the country, it would be useful to bring this back as a regularly recurring topic of discussion.

Civil Unrest / Crime:
The Crime problem continues to grow. Break in calls for residences and businesses has been steadily increasing.
Interesting Local News / Events:
Massachusetts has reported a 120% increase in new driver’s licenses being issues since illegal aliens have been allowed to obtain them last July 1.
The US Attorney for Massachusetts and the ATF Boston field office are issuing hysterical reports to the press about “machine guns” flooding the streets in the region. What they are talking about are 3-D printed auto sears for popular semi autos. While the City of Boston has recently seen the first prosecuted “machine gun’ case since 2018, there have been 100 charges of same issued in the state in 2023.
Maine’s Democratic Governor has evidently changed her position to support a possible Assault Weapons ban and high capacity mag restrictions of some sort following the Lewiston shootings.
2 Vermont cities, Burlington and Rutland, have made a national list of the worst crime ridden cities in the country. It is unclear and suspect what criteria was used to make this list up, since crime infected places like Baltimore and Philly were not on the list. Despite these concerns, it is an indication that even the small rural cities in this region are staring to decline into lawlessness.
Public Service Interruptions:
Warm temperatures have led to a sting of foggy days that is impacting aviation in the region. Manchester NH Airport reported cancelled or delayed flights for this reason. Many of the regions rivers remain in flood stage from the storm a week ago and there are many washed out roads in the White Mountain and the Longfellow Mountain ranges. There are still a few areas without power from this event as well.
