Got Testosterone? How Older Warriors Can Stay in the Fight and THRIVE! (Introduction)

Partisan Greetings, my Brothers! I trust everyone out there is welcoming the arrival of spring and hitting the training hard.

Lately, I’ve enjoyed the honor of having a few older Partisan readers reach out to me via email for additional fitness advice, and helping them got me thinking about the particular fitness and health needs of older Partisans. Based on my recent experiences at the superb tactical training courses I’ve taken in the last 15 months, as well as reading through various comments on American Partisan posts, I’ve deduced that a large number of this website’s readers as well as the general “tactical community” at large are males over 40 (including me) – older men that, despite being past their fighting-age prime, are still READY TO FIGHT, at least in spirit and oftentimes, even physically! Older Partisans are fighting men that have the wisdom and experience of our decades of life (hopefully, right?), as well as the burning desire to resist the ongoing, hideous commie takeover… but the body is older, worn down, and for many of us, the body has been reluctantly “decommissioned” from serious physical action.

And so this mismatch between patriotic passion and the physical reality will leave many fired-up Partisans feeling unable and unsuited for getting into the fight. Yes… the decommissioning due to aging is a huge and frustrating morale buster that hurts the warrior’s heart like nothing else – especially when the enemy is on the march! Nevertheless, many of us older Partisan warriors are simply NOT ready to pack it in and be old men just yet, am I right? Now, if only there were some practical way to squeeze some more action out of these old bones, to remain viable or even to get back into the fight…

Well, I’ve got some AWESOME news for older Partisan warriors: you too can up your fight game and extend/renew your readiness for ACTION by making some strategic anti-aging and manhood-boosting lifestyle changes that are key for rejuvenating the older warrior, getting him back into the best shape possible and, in many cases, fight-worthy too! That’s right. Think of how good it would be if our side could get some seasoned, post-prime trigger-pullers BACK into the action – or even fight-worthy for the first time ever – at a time when we need ALL hands on deck? And if nothing else, effectively turning back the physical aging clock is a huge quality-of-life booster by itself on a personal level for the warrior, even for those of us that simply can’t get into fighting shape due to age and/or practical reasons.

Therefore, in this Got Testosterone? series specially focused on older Partisan warriors, we’ll take a deep dive in plainspoken English to look at properly managing the male aging process for best results by singularly focusing on building testosterone, the prime rejuvenating hormone of manhood.

Indeed, good old testosterone – the “male hormone” – is a huge deal to us aging men, and rightfully so. In conversations with other dudes my age and older about the aging process, the subject of “Low-T” (low testosterone) comes up quite often, together with the gripes about the ever-increasing limitations of the “Low-T” life. Whether it’s a reduced sexual performance, aches and pains, a belly forming before our very eyes, the decrease in physical strength and vigor… you name it. It sucks! The aging process for the man is often marked by a certain feeling of inadequacy due to not being able to do things like we used to, whatever it may be. So it’s not surprising that many of us older warriors feel little choice but to bow out of the fight at some point – with a heavy heart.

Of course, many older men will turn to the medical establishment for “Low-T” intervention in the form of hormone replacement/testosterone therapy. That’s certainly effective, but wouldn’t it be great if we older Partisan warriors could take control of the matter ourselves and turn back the clock safely and without drugs, using gentle, non-toxic approaches to revitalizing ourselves from the inside out? Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s possible, and I’ll show the way with this Got Testosterone? series.

Knowledge is POWER, Brothers! That said, I’ll be sharing with Partisans all that I’ve learned – and am still learning – about how we can get into and stay in proper fighting shape in our middle and later years, so that we can maybe even roll with Partisan warriors half our age, and still THRIVE! I personally get a big kick out of running and gunning with my younger trigger-pulling peers, and even giving them a run for their money to boot. Y’all just KNOW you want to be able to do that, and I’ll show the way!

In this multi-part series on building testosterone, we’ll first take a close look at:

  • What exactly testosterone is and does, as well as signs of low testosterone
  • Potential causes of low testosterone (there are non-obvious causes that will probably surprise you!)

Next, we’ll do an in-depth review of safe, simple, and effective solutions for Partisans to fortify their internal testosterone levels, covering:

  • Digestive and eating strategies
  • Testosterone-supporting supplements
  • Exercise considerations for older lifters to work out safely and effectively (and boost testosterone)
  • Other non-food, non-exercise lifestyle approaches

Importantly, keep in mind that pharmaceutical-grade interventions for low testosterone are effective, but they are aggressive too; all pharmaceutical interventions have toxicity and thus have potential side effects that come part and parcel with the therapy. What’s more, the pharma therapy creates dependence (slavery, even?). Not good! What I’d like to present to my Partisan Brothers are options that skip the drugs, and that are safe, natural, AND effective too. The safe way may not provide instant gratification like pharma, but… the benefits are multifunctional, risk-free, and YOURS TO KEEP, and without being a slave to drugs. Think about that.

By the time you’re done reading the Got Testosterone? series, you should be empowered with a firm understanding of what testosterone is all about in a practical sense, how to boost it naturally using multiple approaches, and also how to approach your physical fitness while taking the age of your older body into proper consideration. After all, we’re not young men no more, and that has to be respected too, testosterone boost or not! Taken together, I am confident that many older Partisan warriors will gain knowledge they can immediately put to use to renew themselves, and maybe even get back into proper fighting shape for real, as the fight approaches us faster and faster.

Them old bones still got some kick-ass left in them, I know it! So stay tuned, Partisans! Good info is coming. Thanks for reading!

Conan, as a guy in his middle 60’s, I look forward to reading this series. I’m already active taking care of my little 6.5 acre homestead (chickens, bees and a garden) but, I’m 20 lbs. overweight and currently in physical therapy for issues with my rotator cuff.
I know what’s coming and I need to get into better shape.

Looking forward to evermore wisdom Mr. C , The big 60 next month and here the organic extreme athlete here certainly hit the wall hard in the last year…..I ran every day well into this millenium , in addition to martial arts and Heavy weights for the better part of my life But now… for the first time ever.I am no longer in the single digit bodyfat club and although I mountain bike year round for the testosterone,,,,I could use some help. For many decades now I have stressed mental , physical and spiritual purification through extreme recreation and everyone know that I ride for the T that is released by my quads….More leg workout the better…Squats are your best friend ! Rock On Bro

Right on, bro. It leaves me scratching my head to see SOOOO many guys out there that never do barbell squats at all. They’re missing out on the testosterone-stimulating qualities of that awesome lift. Glad to have you on board – more to come soon! Thanks for commenting.

Conan , Great article awaiting the rest of them . At 64 i run jog/walk 4 miles a day and lift working on one body part per day. I believe the secret to fitness for the ” Vintage ” crowd is to start in mid life and make it an every day habit.

Hi Gray Wolf! You’re right – it’s best to start early with the fitness, but there will be many out there that never got into it, or have let it go for a long time. Still, there is a way forward for the older man if he knows what he’s doing. I hope this series helps with that, along with the other posts I’ve written on AP. Thanks for reading and commenting!

    Donate blood

    • conan May 4, 2022 at 05:52

Donate blood… yeah, ok. Yes, free testosterone levels in the blood will go up slightly after donating blood, but should a guy donate blood every 6 – 8 weeks once his blood supply has replenished itself in order to boost testosterone? That’s really clever and sustainable, isn’t it. What are your bona fides, Scott? I love it when some genius commenter breezes in out of nowhere with “advice” for the readers.

Hi Conan… here is my T story, which I hope will encourage others. In my early 50’s I had gotten into endurance sports; i.e. half Ironman’s, 50K trail races, 12 hour runs, etc. Things were going well, but I did start to physically feel like I wasn’t recovering from my adventures. Come physical time, my blood work showed that my testosterone had crept down in the 200’s. Doc started me on hormone replacement therapy and it worked wonders. Then in 2015, I was selected to participate in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. Selected meaning I was chosen as a lottery selection. To be true to the sport, I stopped taking the testosterone and trained all year without it. I went from being in the best shape of my adult life, at 175 lbs to 190 lbs. I was swimming, riding and running, doing all of the necessary workouts. I didn’t change my diet any, and I gained 15 lbs in 6 months. I had a bad day with my feet, so I DNF’ed. But my point is that testosterone is critical for (a) having sufficient energy (b) adequate recovery from workouts and (c) maintaining an active metabolism. It will not stop you from eating too much, but if you manage your intake, then testosterone will definitely help your body get ‘er done. I am 63 now and there is very little that I don’t feel like I can try to do, much to the chagrin of my wife.

Hi MissileFarmer! Thanks for describing your experience experiences with low-T and TRT (testosterone replacement therapy). That’s very interesting, and it highlights one of the main points behind my upcoming posts – the TRT definitely works wonders, but like you conveyed: once the therapy stops, so do the fleeting benefits. There also has to be a negative psychological effect that accompanies the reversion to the low-T existence. That’s the main reason I never got into steroids as a younger man – not because of potential negative side effects (as a younger guy, I didn’t give a rat’s ass about that), but because I didn’t want to later lose the awesome results of taking black market “testosterone therapy” (after all, that is what steroids simulate on a much greater level) after I stopped taking the steroids. After all, I knew I couldn’t afford or take steroids indefinitely, and I’d rather have nothing than have it knowing I’d lose it. I had also seen examples of the rise and fall of my peers who got on steroids and then got off of them, and I couldn’t help but get turned way off by how much muscle size and energy they lost almost instantly. Old Arnold is a spectacular example of this phenomenon – seen him lately? He’s been looking awful for years now (and has health problems from taking them, to boot – take note!). I decided to take the long road, and at least KEEP what I had struggled so hard to create. The same applies to natural approaches to boosting testosterone – it takes a bit more effort to piece together in different ways, but it’s sustainable (and SAFE) without outside “assistance”. Thanks again for sharing and commenting!

I definitely do not want to go on TRT! Looking forward to this series.

    • conan May 4, 2022 at 05:32

Good thinking. I’m confident this series will be of value to Partisans like you who don’t want the pharma therapy. Stay tuned and thanks for reading and commenting!

Fuckin A right, bro! I read in a biography about Alexander the Great that he had lifer soldiers in their freakin’ SIXTIES charging the enemy lines in battle, and that’s stuck with me ever since. Anyway, glad to have you on board! The next installment should be out within the next 7 days!
