Request for Information (RFI) – Weekly SITREP

I am going to make this a weekly post so that we can use this as a place to make any reports on unusual activity or localized hotspots of trouble. We did this a few times during COVID (here, here, here, and here) but I figured that, as our conditions continue to degrade around the country, it would be useful to bring this back as a regularly recurring topic of discussion.

Post your reports in the comments below.

    General Location: Upper New England

Food Price / Shortages: Elevated/ None

Fuel Prices / Shortages: $3.29 Gal Reg/ None

    Unusual Military Movement:
Ukrainian AN-124 took off from Pease ANG near Portsmouth NH and flew to Europe last night. Resupply of Ukrainian war effort despite no funds having been approved by Congress is obviously taking place.

    Civil Unrest / Crime:
Crimes against property and civil infractions continue to occur on a steady basis. People are not renewing drivers licenses, auto registrations, and continue to operate after licenses ae revoked. Drivers are quick to report erratic driving of any kind and the police are aggressive in following up.

    Interesting Local News / Events:

Fifteen organizations and state agencies in Maine have been awarded more than $20 million to combat homelessness. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care Program has funded $20,850,852 to help those in need of housing, as well as those fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.

The Governor of Maine gave a State of the State address last evening in which she called for new gun control due to the Lewiston shootings. A prominent Republican opposition member has switched to backing anti-gun proposals after his son’s publicity agency business took on an anti gun group as a client.

Massachusetts is moving a large group of illegal aliens who have been sleeping on the floor at the Boston airport to a state owned recreational facility in the Boston borough of Roxbury. Roxbury as a primarily black neighborhood with a severe violent crime rate. The state’s Marxist congressional delegation also attempted to strongarm Walgreens Corp from closing the Roxbury store location due to unsustainable levels of theft. A nearly weeping Mass Governor spoke on camera about housing the illegals here and admitted that there are no other options available spread around the diversity she says she wants more of. The locals in Roxbury are already muttering under their breath in resentment of the new arrivals.

    Public Service Interruptions: None

    Changes in Patterns of Life:
The recent damaging coastal storms have been fully politicized in Maine as having been the clear result of sea level rise and climate change. The fact that these storms produced a strong southeast wind storm surges that precisely coincided with astronomical high tides is not taken into account. The politicians are pushing this narrative in order to advance electric vehicle mandates, offshore windfarms, and bans on gas stoves within the state.

I took pictures of two busloads of illegals that were parked in a small town in SW Idaho this week. There were approximately 60 passengers and all were M.A.M.’s (military aged males). According to those who questioned the drivers, they had “…stopped for a lunch break on their way to Yakima, Washington to pick apples..” It should be noted that the season for picking apples ended two months ago. We also have verified reports over the past two weeks of buses unloading passengers in the middle of the night in the neighboring cities of Nampa and Caldwell. The State AG and local State Reps are investigating.

edf renewables , had a large solar farm planned across the road from me. central ohio. they sent written notice to my next door neighbor. they will no longer be continuing with exploration of building , they lost their financial backing.

this is where it gets interesting, they were courting us also about 5 years ago. we asked who owns edf. they claimed it was FRANCE. so they had big deep pockets and this was coming one way or the other. they originally wanted 2400 acres , but i dont know how many acres on contracts they signed up. but the folks that signed and had been counting on the yearly leases. maybe over leveraged .

yes, EDF is the french state-owned (partially privatized and financialized like everything else) power company. like any other corporation they dont realy profit on actual business anymore, but on financial wheeling and dealing. the whole ‘renewables’ scam has been about collecting subsidies , thats where the profit is. nobody even cares if the power generated if any, is even useful or used. it’s all about collecting subsidies, and of course only megacorporations who are in the dcool kids club with the bankers even get a chance to set up the installations or collect the cash. you pay for it mostly from inflated power bills and ‘green’ fees they slap onto everything.
in recent years much of the subsidy money has been drying up . wind turbines dont get us federal subsidies anymore (not like they used to), germany ended subsidies for new facilities, etc, and theyre scrambling for any place they can find who’se still handing out cash. That the planned facility near you got canceled was likely because the imagined free money dried up.
none of these facilities are profitable on their own.

    Food Price / Shortages:

High prices are the new normal. Prices are still going up but I am not seeing as big of price jumps as I was seeing. Food is still expensive and a price shock to me. I haven’t seen massive food shortages, but I have noticed more than a few items at Aldi seem to be staying out of stock. Sometimes I do see some empty spaces on a shelves, but they are restocked next time I shop. I think that is more stocking issues more than not having a product.

    Fuel Prices / Shortages:

Gasoline prices are have gone up by $0.20 to $0.25 yesterday on my end of town. From $2.85 to $3.09. I will see what happens. Hopefully this is just a temporary market fluctuation. There are not any gasoline shortages to report

    Unusual Military Movement:

I haven’t seen any military movement in my AO. There are a number reserve and guard bases in the area and I haven’t noticed any unusual activity. I’m not saying that there isn’t anything going in my AO, just that I haven’t seen anything that stands out.

    Civil Unrest / Crime:

Not much to report as far as civil unrest. There have been some protests in downtown Greensboro regarding Israel and Gaza. One thing to note, Greensboro is a college town, and protests happen throughout the year. Most are not a big deal, just another day events. Crime is still up. Most crimes are petty and drug/gang related.

    Interesting Local News / Events:

    Nothing to report

    Public Service Interruptions:

The only thing of note was that a few weeks ago some Duke Energy customers received emails and text asking people to reduce power consumption early in the morning during a predicted cold snap. This is odd because I have never heard of this happening before. As far as I know, there were not any power outages.

    Changes in Patterns of Life:

More of the same. My dollar doesn’t go as far as it used to. I think most people are going through the same thing. My only changes are that I streamline my driving and I have been buying cheaper brand foods. Also trying to make more meals at home and cooking more from scratch.

    Any additional observations or comments:

This could be nothing more then a random set of events that I am seeing. Last week I had to drive through a few different towns, both big and small. I noticed more than a few business signs that were not fully working. Either half the sign or a few letters out. Seemed odd to me.

    AO: southern greece

fuel prices: a slight tick upward, petrol eur 1.95-2.10/liter , diesel 1.85-1.90/liter

a few days ago a mid-50s age couple in the north of the country was busted with lots of publicity for having an ‘arsenal’ of weapons, which they claim was about 30 rifles&pistols including two subguns, ‘over 90 magazines’ and ‘over 30 thousand rounds of ammo’ plus ‘mortar shells’ and miscellaneous. they showed much of it in photos. nothing i saw in the photos was under 50 years old – e.g. a really old style folder AK , you could tell from the style of the stock that it was really old, what looked like a vietnam era m16, a thompson, and so on. even one totally sketchy looking scrap metal improvised pistol! the mortar shells were ww2 and rusting to pieces. the ammo was dark with the oxidation of age. in greece anything with a rifled barrel is essentially forbidden (almost impossible to get permits, only a couple thousand permits currently issued in the whole country and they only last 3 years, plus even with the permit one is only allowed 500 rounds of ammo and yes to buy more ammo one needs to take the empty shells to the police and get a certificate from the cops that theyve counted and ‘destroyed’ them!) so this stash is likely somebody’s prized collection put together sub-rosa from whatever fell through the cracks ages and ages ago. they were citizens and hadnt committed any violent crimes, so they got railroaded. meanwhile a known albanian gangster wanted for a car bomb among other things, was arrested at the airport and immediately released. organized crime seems to have access to an endless supply of AKs and almost nobody is ever prosecuted, even if anyone is arrested more for show than anything else.
was an unusual item for greek news though. also amusing that that ‘arsenal’ would have been maybe a decent outfitting for a single household in the states!

here as well as up in europe (DE and FR especially) there have been major movements of farmers pushing back against all this ‘green’ crap which bit by bit all has the goal of killing independent food production. the official news are as silent about it as they are in the states about the border situation.

    nothing else comes to mind.
