Request for Information (RFI) – Weekly SITREP
I am going to make this a weekly post so that we can use this as a place to make any reports on unusual activity or localized hotspots of trouble. We did this a few times during COVID (here, here, here, and here) but I figured that, as our conditions continue to degrade around the country, it would be useful to bring this back as a regularly recurring topic of discussion.

Civil Unrest / Crime:
– There is a new armed civilian neighborhood patrol operating in Hartford Connecticut. The leadership says they strive to make the area streets safe for the residents again and they encourage and coach members through the process of obtaining pistol carry permits in the highly restrictive anti-firearms state. For this reason, the city administration has been cool if not hostile to the group. a video feature of the group showed a nearly 100% black membership with a balanced gender mix on patrol in the city. They collect trash as they go and announce themselves with a bullhorn. There were also plans mentioned to expand these groups to all neighborhoods in the city. Hartford is at the northern end of the New York City metro sprawl and influence region. Despite the proximity, it has long been a fairly safe smaller city. The fact that crime is now bad enough there for poor urban blacks to start forming armed militias is telling.
Interesting Local News / Events:
The upcoming solar eclipse is leading to some interesting and potentially disturbing news and rumors pertaining to planned government response to this event. New Hampshire announced that they expect 20,000 people to travel into the total eclipse zone in the rural northern end of the state. They anticipate and are warning against driving without lights during the period of darkness, pulling over on rural roads with poor shoulders, and distracted driving or stopping in unauthorized places. Maine on the other hand seems to be encouraging a tourist influx into the north country, despite lack of services available to that many people. There is a major snow and wind storm entering New England tonight and lasting until Friday. Winds up to 50 mph are expected and 1 1/2 feet of snow in the zone where the eclipse will be.
Rumor Control sourced from a downstate fire department is that Central Maine Power expects more than 100k customers to lose power in the storm and that restoration may take up to 7 days since so many crews are being redeployed to support the eclipse.
Public Service Interruptions: None at the moment

local grain elevator that was automated less than 12 months ago, new build 3 years ago, stuffs just not breaking yet. will be shut down 2 weeks tomorrow. their official response to the public is the automation part is offline,, the I.T. dept is working on it. it sure looks like they were hacked . the scale people say they can write manual sa,le tickets. so its in the communications, between the scale and dump site. they turn on and off augers and close gates. so they arent doing it with a walkie talkie manually. this is big. the same location has been telling us, train cars arent showing up when order by 2-7 days. that has been getting more common the last few years. 2 weeks ago they had a order for 90cars to fill corn. they had 3 cars show up completely full with corn already. that is squarely on the R/R . this elevator has been running semis to a neighboring town to load shipping containers with beans and then they truck them up to the north east ports. corn gets brought back on the trucks and they load trains here and run that to the PNW. this is the corn export season and we’re going to get crippled for bin space if the ports and trains dont get opened back up.
ag report this morning is aston from russia is getting complaints about bad wheat, crap they have been storing for years to dump on the market for economic warfare to supress grain prices here.
gas is $3.5+ish on average over a few towns local. had people come to me and ask me to buy silver 10 oz bricks at 270 . this is just before silver went to $27.19 was at 25 still. people are starting to get hurt. i’d rather have 1/2/5 oz for barter. 10 just gets to big if price goes up.
Yikes. Sounds like major logistic problems. Thanks for the report!
