Request for Information (RFI) – Weekly SITREP

I am going to make this a weekly post so that we can use this as a place to make any reports on unusual activity or localized hotspots of trouble. We did this a few times during COVID (here, here, here, and here) but I figured that, as our conditions continue to degrade around the country, it would be useful to bring this back as a regularly recurring topic of discussion.

Post your reports in the comments below.

Patriotman currently ekes out a survivalist lifestyle in a suburban northeastern state as best as he can. He has varied experience in political science, public policy, biological sciences, and higher education. Proudly Catholic and an Eagle Scout, he has no military experience and thus offers a relatable perspective for the average suburban prepper who is preparing for troubled times on the horizon with less than ideal teams and in less than ideal locations. General Location: Upper New England

Food Price / Shortages: Elevated/ None

Fuel Prices / Shortages: Trending upward again. Reg $3.29/ None

    Unusual Military Movement: None

    Civil Unrest / Crime:
The local Communist agitators remain focused on the Gaza War. The membership at regional protests consists of a core group of activists who have been arrested several times. They are now moving to crowd funding online to alleviate the legal expenses.

Large drug trafficking arrests are on the rise. Law enforcement drug task force is likely targeting the local contacts in the state who act as the warehouse and point of distribution to the end customers. They also provide the outsider drug couriers with a safehouse and a source of straw purchased firearms, along with local knowledge.

    Interesting Local News / Events:

The state energy board has rejected a proposed electric vehicle mandate in the State of Maine. The vote was pushed back after earlier winter storms knocked out power for an extended period in some places and brought the limitations of battery/electric transport in a severe winter region to the public’s attention. The delay did not work, and the public remained strongly in opposition to the proposed regulations. This opposition evidently outweighed the Governor’s support for the proposal and the fact that she stacked the board with “green” Progressives. The state legislature is also moving to bring this board and its decrees under legislative review, which is not the case at the moment.

Massachusetts has turned over a State “Soldier’s Home” for veterans to illegal invaders. Somewhere between 200 and 500 illegals will be housed there at public expense depending upon how “family” is defined. The displaced vets will be expected to panhandle outside the shelter near the Boston Massacre site I suppose.

    Public Service Interruptions:
Major late winter storm dropped a foot of snow in the mountains and changed to frozen rain along the coast and caused power outages affecting 100k customers.

    Changes in Patterns of Life:
Maple sugaring started early this year and is still going on with the late cold stretch. It would normally have concluded by now.

      Appreciate the report as always!

Replacing Vets with Illegals in an election year is a bold political move….and they also can go fuck themselves for that

    General Location: SW Missouri Ozarks

Food Price / Shortages: No shortages, but I spend 375$ on a 3/4 cart of staple groceries today. No junk food or pre-prepared foods

Fuel Prices / Shortages: No shortages of fuel noted. Wife bought diesel today, but didn’t note price.

Unusual Military Movement: Military movement is not normal here. None sighted.

Civil Unrest / Crime: Approximately 30 miles north of here another kiddie porn bust happened recently. “Multi – jurisdiction task force”.

Other than that, most crime here is rednecks doing redneck shit, or petty drug crime.

Interesting Local News / Events: Storm season has arrived. Already had 1 tornado warning last week.

    Public Service Interruptions: None noted.

Changes in Patterns of Life: None noted.

Any additional observations or comments: Spring has arrived. I’m working hard on getting the garden in, as I believe that it will be necessary to live on this year.

So, I can only offer additonal observations as there was no real deviation from baseline in the other categories.

Politics is the hot topic. Being an election year, that’s not a shocker. I’m seeing more and more, everyone is fed up with both candidates and are starting to hate the entire process. I’m not seeing people running to vote for RFK though. Just a general “fuck Biden” and “Fuck Trump” kind of attitude.

Some of the responses to that have been.. some people are going to hold their nose, others are voting Trump as a middle finger to the system but don’t necessarily think he’s going to fix anything. No real deviation from the white, 55+ rich liberal crowd (i.e., mostly NY and NJ transplants, aka frontplaters) voting Biden. Local antifa types hate everyone who isn’t antifa (shocker). The ones who think voting will fix things are the older conservatives who just want stability above all. No one under 50 thinks this process will fix a damn thing, though. There is a significant disconnect between the under 50 crowd, and the boomers (65 and up) as far as solutions. It’s a canyon quite frankly. That’s been the most consistent thing I’ve seen is the demographics and how mindset seems to line up with it.

Whether at the range, gym, even in the stores there is a different feel in the air. Everyone seems to be sizing up everyone else to figure out who is friend and who is foe. Gym crowd is still mostly the good side, fwiw.

Great observations about the age disconnect

    AO: southern greece
Food Price / Shortages: nothing out of the ordinary/what goes for ordinary the past few years. prices seem about the same as they were a month ago.

Fuel Prices / Shortages: a slight tick up, gasoline about EUR 2-2.10 /liter, diesel about 1.85-1.90/liter.

Unusual Military Movement: PM visited the ukraine last week. talking heads in the ‘ukraine farce’ claimed that they had some secret air defense agreement with greece. PM immediately announced that there was no such agreement. GR ruling class is always trying to guess what the popular thing to say/do is and is almost always a week or two behind the times in their cheerleading. (PM is a WEF toadie)
(GR military capability is close to zero in any case)

Civil Unrest / Crime: nothing stands out as unusual.

Interesting Local News / Events: government facing a no-confidence vote because the ruling party collected confidential contact info from voters abroad registering for absentee ballots (a new thing in GR, it was almost impossible before), and used that contact info to feed a marketing/campaigning effort.. ruling party officials have admitted in public that they stole the contact info and passed it on to those who used it, nobody’s been fired yet but opposition parties have tried to push for new elections. current ruling party won with a sketchy election where more votes were cast in some districts than there were living people according to the census. Actual voting is pretty secure – in person only, paper ballots, id checks, etc – but ballot boxes get stuffed with after-the-fact additions of votes from dead people etc in districts where those who hold custody can get away with it.
At the same time, the EU is starting to charge some officials involved in a huge train crash last year- a half billion or so of EU funds were supposedly spent on upgrading signalling on that run of track, the signalling was never upgraded but the money was spent. so far nobody’s gone to jail except the hapless station master of the local station. the corruption spans multiple adminstrations over a decade or so so all the major parties are dirty in this matter.

      EUR 2-2.10 / liter = EUR 7.57-7.91 / gallon = $8.17-$8.54 / gallon

Jesus Christ…… I thought my $3.19 / gallon I paid this morning was rough….Interesting that diesel is cheaper over there because it certainly isn’t here
